Cut Calories Without Changing a Thing You Eat
When we think of being overweight or obese, we think of fattening foods, rich desserts and things of that nature. However recent studies suggest that we may have to think again.
In September of 2012, a new research study by Dr. David Ludwig of the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center and published in the New England Journal of Medicine, concluded that there was very strong evidence that “sugary drinks” played a major role in obesity.
It may seem like a little thing if you drink a morning power-drink, an energy drink with lunch, a soda in the afternoon etc., but you may be surprised. Dr. David had this to say; “I know of no other category of food whose elimination can produce weight loss in such a short period of time.” So in effect, this is good news. Many people who are overweight may lose a significant amount, just by changing their drinking habits. I dont mean alcholic drinks necessarily although those too are associated with weight gain Im afraid. The drinks targeted in this study were soft drinks. In fact one of the worst types is the sports type drinks. Another recent report announced that sugar type drinks were the single biggest source of calories in the American Diet.
Even if you think your body fat is genetic, this report in the New England Journal of Medicine that eliminating these fattening drinks from your diet, may keep your “fat genes” inactive. They aslo believe the opposite, that these huge charges of sugary drinks may escalate the fat gene.
So if you are a calorie guzzler, and drink several sugary drinks a day, you could very well lose excess weight, just by switching to low calorie drinks, or better yet… water. A heavy soft drink drinker could easily remove one thousand calories a day from their diet, just by switching.
